FLOOD RECOVERY – MOIRA SHIRE
When: 2024
Client: Moira Shire Council
Overview: The Flood Recovery project in Moira Shire was a critical initiative established to address and manage the aftermath of recent natural disasters. The primary objective was to form a dedicated team tasked with assessing, documenting, and compiling comprehensive data on the extent of the damage caused by the flood events. This project was vital for Council’s effective response to the calamities that have significantly impacted the local community through infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges.
Works include:
The recent floods inflicted significant harm to Council’s assets. As a response, the project’s primary focus was on systematically assessing the impacted areas. This encompassed in-depth evaluations of infrastructure damage, providing the Council with a comprehensive understanding of the extent of the impact. Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) has established procedures to assist local councils in their recovery endeavours, and this project aligned seamlessly with these protocols.
BPS held a pivotal position within this recovery process. Our core responsibility was to assist Council in compiling all relevant information pertaining to asset damage and restoration. This thorough data collection was essential for the Moira Shire Council to formulate and submit claims under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). BPS’ expertise in data management and claims compilation played a critical role in ensuring that the Council received the vital support and funding necessary for their recovery and reconstruction efforts.
